- The DATIpilot program, initiated by the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR), is a pilot funding scheme designed to accelerate the transfer of research into practical applications and foster innovation. It serves as an experimental platform to prepare the future German Agency for Transfer and Innovation (DATI) and to modernize funding processes. DATIpilot focuses on two funding modules: Innovation Sprints, which enable rapid implementation of concrete transfer ideas within up to 18 months, and Innovation Communities, which support long-term, collaborative innovation projects for up to four years. The program emphasizes openness, co-creation, and agile processes, targeting actors from academia, industry, and society to develop technological and social innovations that address societal challenges.
