Open Call 2025

The DATIpilot Innovationscommunity BioBlock invites proposals for its Open Call 2025. We are looking for visionary projects that advance transparency, FAIR data, and decentralized collaboration in biotechnology.

FUNDING LINES & BUDGET
R&D Projects – up to 36 months, max. €250,000 per partner.
‍Community-Sprints – up to 18 months, max. €150,000 per partner.
‍Praxis-Sprints – up to 18 months, max. €150,000 per partner.
💡 Total budget: ~€1 million, with at least one project per challenge.

‍ELIGIBILITY
Universities, research institutions, start-ups, SMEs, corporates, NGOs, and civil society organizations.
‍Praxispartner = non-academic organizations with direct relevance to practice and transfer.
Only entities with a legal seat in Germany can receive funding.
Non-EU/EEA/CH entities may only join as Associated Partners (no funding, limited rights) or Subcontractors (via German partner, no exploitation rights).

TIMELINE
Call opens: 12.09.2025
‍Deadline: 10.10.2025
Interviews: 24.10.2025, MotionLab.Berlin (hybrid). Applicants must save the date.
Notification: November 2025
Earliest starts: 01.04.2026 (Sprints) / 01.07.2026 (R&D)
‍All projects must end by 31.12.2028.

‍Final funding requires submission via easy-Online (German, mandatory).

GOVERNANCE & EVALUATION
‍Management Team (MT) – Fit-to-Call check.
‍Stakeholder Advisory Board (SAB) – expert review.
‍Interviews – shortlisted projects present at MotionLab.Berlin (24.10.2025).
‍PtJ – legal/financial check of funding eligibility.
‍Final decision – after PtJ approval.

TERMS
Funding based on §§ 23, 44 BHO, AZA, De-minimis, AGVO.
25–100% funding rate, with 100% of eligible costs (incl. indirects) for academic partners.
Open Access, GDPR compliance, FAIR data, IPR and audit rules apply.
All funded projects must display the BioBlock, BMFTR and DATIpilot logos.
