BioBlock invites proposals for its
Open Call 2025. We are looking for visionary projects that advance transparency, FAIR data, and decentralized collaboration in biotechnology.
FUNDING LINES & BUDGETR&D Projects – up to 36 months, max. €250,000 per partner.
Community-Sprints – up to 18 months, max. €150,000 per partner.
Praxis-Sprints – up to 18 months, max. €150,000 per partner.
💡 Total budget: ~€1 million, with at least one project per challenge.

ELIGIBILITYUniversities, research institutions, start-ups, SMEs, corporates, NGOs, and civil society organizations.
Praxispartner = non-academic organizations with direct relevance to practice and transfer.
Only entities with a
legal seat in Germany can receive funding.
Non-EU/EEA/CH entities may only join as
Associated Partners (no funding, limited rights) or
Subcontractors (via German partner, no exploitation rights).

Notification: November 2025
Earliest starts:
01.04.2026 (Sprints) /

GOVERNANCE & EVALUATION
Management Team (MT) – Fit-to-Call check.
Stakeholder Advisory Board (SAB) – expert review.
Interviews – shortlisted projects present at MotionLab.Berlin (24.10.2025).
PtJ – legal/financial check of funding eligibility.
Final decision – after PtJ approval.
TERMSFunding based on
§§ 23, 44 BHO, AZA, De-minimis, AGVO.
25–100% funding rate, with 100% of eligible costs (incl. indirects) for academic partners.
Open Access, GDPR compliance, FAIR data, IPR and audit rules apply.
All funded projects must display the
BioBlock, BMFTR and DATIpilot logos.
